Coca-Cola supports FareShare to get food and drinks to those in need during the Coronavirus crisis

The Coca-Cola Company, its bottling partner Coca-Cola European Partners and The Coca-Cola Foundation is supporting FareShare to provide the equivalent of nearly 2 million healthy meals and one million drinks as part of their global commitment to donate $120million to support COVID-19 relief efforts around the world. The support will help FareShare distribute food and drinks to vulnerable people, via its network of more than 11,000 charities and community groups across the UK, as well as scale up the emergency response to safely deliver meals to people facing financial hardship, older people, and those with serious illnesses who are self-isolating.

A long-standing partner, Coca-Cola European Partners has been supporting FareShare since 2014, and since 2017, has donated its wide range of drinks to primarily support projects aimed at families at risk of going hungry. Continuing support, over one million drinks have been committed to FareShare’s emergency coronavirus response, via a nationwide IGD scheme.

FareShare CEO Lindsay Boswell, said: “In just a few short weeks FareShare has almost doubled the amount of food we’re getting to those in need, but we are still seeing a significant increase in demand from frontline charities and community groups across the UK. This timely donation from the Coca-Cola Foundation will help us get more good food out to the most vulnerable people in our communities, during this crisis and beyond.”

Jon Woods, General Manager for Coca-Cola Great Britain and Ireland, said: “These are challenging times and it’s vital that businesses and communities come together and do what we can to help.

“In Great Britain, we’re really proud to be supporting our long-term partner, FareShare. Together with Coca-Cola European Partners, we hope that our commitment of drinks and financial support from The Coca-Cola Foundation will help the amazing team at FareShare continue their tireless work to support so many people across the country.”
