Fieldfisher accelerates ESG momentum with release of latest Sustainability in action report

European law firm Fieldfisher today launches its latest Sustainability in action report  (April  2024 – April  2025), outlining the firm’s progress across its four sustainability priorities: people, planet, purpose and inclusive prosperity and governance.  

The report highlights the firm’s continued commitment to sustainable business practices, long-term success and meaningful social impact across its offices. 

Managing Partner Robert Shooter commented:

We are proud of the meaningful steps we have taken, with sustainability and inclusion at the core of our values and our One Europe strategy. We also recognise that this is a continuous journey that requires transparency, collaboration and concrete actions to drive progress.”   

Key highlights from the report include:

  • People: continued investment in people development and inclusion, including expanded wellbeing support through the firm’s year long Wellbeing Together campaign, which brought together colleagues across 23 offices in 12 countries and was supported by 22 wellbeing champions, together with enhanced career pathways and strengthened diversity networks with important progress in partner gender and ethnic representation (46% female partner promotions and 30% female partnership representation across the firm,  and 11% ethnic minority representation within the UK partnership).

  • Planet: advanced environmental strategy by improving emissions data, engaging with over 65 suppliers on sustainability and emissions data and increasing use of renewably sourced firm purchased electricity (being utilised across 13 offices), supporting the firm’s ambition to reach net zero by 2045.

  • Purpose and inclusive prosperity: growth in social impact, including partnerships with 70+ charities, 350 skilled volunteering hours and £1.8m in pro bono support.

  • Governance: strengthened practices through continuing focus on professional standards, modern slavery risk management and reporting via the Climate Disclosure Project and EcoVadis.
