Fundraising platform Donr helps 5,000 charities raise £5 million through digital donation solutions

Digital fundraising platform Donr helps 5,000 charities raise £5 million through digital donation solutions, the company reached the impressive milestones weeks after securing a third major investment into the business.

Newcastle, 28th June, 2021: Donr, the tech-for-good firm that provides charities with an easy-to-use, secure, digital fundraising platform, has hit three major milestones. The Newcastle-based business has this week signed up its 5,000th charity client, while it has also hit the landmark of £5 million raised through its platform. Both of these come only a few weeks after the business’ third major investment round closed.

Donr offers charities of all sizes access to their simple and secure fundraising technology, with organisations making frequent use of their popular Text Giving solution – the fastest-growing service of its kind since its launch in November 2018.

A flexible and truly contactless way to give, Text Giving has played a huge role in helping charities to fundraise over the past year, with the platform assisting charities in their response to Covid-19.

In 2020, over 292,000 supporters donated to 3,263 charities using Donr, an incredible 515% increase in donations when compared to the same period in 2019. This includes fundraising campaigns from charities such as: FareShare, HomeStart, Samaritans, Chester Zoo, National Theatre, The Trussell Trust and the MND Association.

The company is expecting more growth in 2021, as it looks to add several new donation solutions into the platform. These solutions will enable charities to further benefit from using Donr’s platform, and will be managed through a new look, easy-to-use and innovative dashboard.

This expansion is supported by yet another successful round of investment. In April of this year, Donr secured £400k in total from Northstar Ventures, Future Fund and an angel investor. This follows on from an initial investment of £300k secured in June 2019, and a £350k seed follow-on investment obtained in April 2020.

As well as using these funds to build up the company’s offering, the tech-for-good firm also plans to expand their head count by 7 over the next 12 months.

Chris Newell, CEO of Donr said, “It’s a great honour to know that our technology has now facilitated over £5 million in donations for UK-based charities. We continue to be inspired by the strength and resilience of these organisations, as well as the generosity of their donors, over the past year.”

“As a safe and truly contactless method, Text Giving only continues to grow as we enter the new normal – but we’re also really looking forward to introducing our innovative new donation solutions to the platform later this year. It’s an exciting time of milestones and further growth here at Donr,” Newell continued.

Richard Charnley, Investment Manager at Northstar Ventures, said, “Digital fundraising methods have proved to be more important than ever before over the past year. We’re proud to continue to support Donr and their commitment to providing smart and easy-to-use donation technology to the third sector, and look forward to more innovative product
