IoF partners with Rapidata to advance innovation in charity payments

The Institute of Fundraising is proud to announce a new partnership with Rapidata, channeling insights about the latest developments in payment technology to the sector.

The IoF, the membership organisation for UK fundraisers, has today announced a new partnership with Rapidata, part of the Access Group, to promote and inspire payment innovation in the fundraising sector.

As the IoF’s Payments Partner, Rapidata will provide support for charities through a period of rapid change in payment culture, highlighting technological developments that could improve the donation experience, changing the way charities accept and process payments. This will include developing new research and providing IoF members with regular updates about how the payments landscape is evolving, what this means for charitable giving and the opportunities to innovate.

This three-year partnership comes at a vital time for the fundraising community. Digital technology has revolutionised consumer behaviour by changing how charities interact with people and how the public donate. Consumers look for those payment methods that work for them, whether that’s Direct Debits, one-off gifts, mobile and contactless. Empowering donors to give instantly and providing multiple ways for donors to engage with the cause is critical to a charity’s success.

Scott Gray, Head of Payments at The Access Group and chair of IoF Suppliers Forum, said

The way that people make payments is rapidly evolving and it is not just an opportunity, but a necessity for charities to keep pace. When people donate, they want to do so quickly and easily, often at the click of a button or swipe of a card, but always ensuring their transactions are handled safely and securely. Technology is changing all the time and this means charities have a multitude of opportunities for accepting donations and processing transactions. We have worked alongside the IoF for many years and we are delighted to formally become their Payment Partner, working to help charities adapt and encourage innovation in the field.

Now as part of the Access Group, we look forward to bringing greater depths of knowledge and research to enrich the fundraising community about how they can make the most of the payment revolution that is occurring and change in donor expectations.

Adam Bryan, Director of Innovation at the IoF, said

Rapidata continues to provide support and commitment to the fundraising community and at the IoF we are pleased to begin our formal partnership. Digital technology has revolutionised donor behaviour and how charities interact with the public, and I’m excited that together we will be able to support the future of payment technology for our members.
