Asda makes big change to its toilet paper

Asda has become the first UK supermarket to change all of its own brand toilet rolls to double length in a move which will see it remove 74 tonnes of plastic and save 760 tonnes of cardboard a year. Great Manchester based charity, Veterans into Logistics have received a welcomed funding boost of £40,000 from Asda, that will enable the charity to train 10 armed forces veterans into new careers as HGV Drivers. The charity has a two year established partnership with Asda Logistic Services who support their mission of preventing homelessness and unemployment in the veteran community. Asda makes big change to all its tea bags

Asda has made a major change to its own brand tea bags by introducing plant-based packaging, meaning that the 550 million tea bags it sells each year can be disposed of in kerbside food waste bins. The new tea bags are made from PLA derived from corn starch, which is a natural, plant-based material and will replace the non-renewable oil-based plastic bags which it has previously used . Asda will be the first UK supermarket to offer an in-store hearing service after announcing that it will partner with Amplifon, who will provide hearing services in three of its stores. Asda expands trial of UK’s-first indoor navigation tool for blind and partially sighted people

Asda is expanding its trial of new technology which will make it easier for blind and partially sighted customers to navigate their way through the store whilst they do their shopping. Following an initial trial at Asda’s designated Technology-Innovation store in Stevenage, the supermarket is integrating a further 10 stores into the GoodMaps smartphone app. The app can pinpoint the user’s location within one metre of accuracy and then communicate directions to product groups or areas via audio, enlarged visual, and touch commands.
