Research commissioned by the country’s leading children’s charity has revealed that the campaign to recruit new foster carers is being hampered by a number of pre-conceived notions about what it takes to become a foster carer. Dozens of young people aged 13 to 18 in Inverness and the surrounding area at risk of involvement in anti-social behaviour and becoming targets for criminal or sexual perpetrators are to be supported thanks to a funding injection for a new project to be led by Barnardo’s Scotland. Scotland’s leading children’s charity has warned of a 50 per cent upsurge in the number of children and young people requiring foster care. Barnardo’s Scotland utilising £700,000 of funding to create hundreds of construction industry jobs

Leading Scottish charity Barnardo’s has received £700,000 in funding to support hundreds of young people to make the move into construction industry jobs across the country. The funding, which has come from the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), will allow Barnardo’s Scotland to support people into work, within the construction industry, along with access to relevant industry-recognised training.
