Leading potato partnership launches spuds from low carbon concept farm in stores

A FIRST-of-its kind low carbon concept farm in Lincolnshire has successfully grown its first crop of highly sustainable potatoes that will land in UK stores this week, thanks to a partnership between retailer Tesco and industry leader Branston. Established last year in a bid to help farmers and suppliers reach net zero targets with innovative solutions, the low carbon concept farm is yielding successful results. Now 500 tonnes of a customer favourite variety, Georgina, are expected in Tesco stores from 23 February in Tesco Finest British All-Rounder and Baking Potato packs.…

Tesco suppliers join forces to tackle global food waste

Tesco announces ground-breaking partnerships with suppliers to tackle UN Sustainable Development Goal on food waste. Speaking at a meeting of Champions 12.3 in New York, Dave Lewis,  Tesco’s CEO, announced partnership agreements with 24 of its largest food suppliers who will adopt the Sustainable Development Goal to halve food waste by 2030.  The suppliers, who represent over £17bn worth of Tesco sales, will publish food waste data for their own operations within 12 months, and have committed to take the steps needed to reduce food waste in their supply chain…
