Average charity donation of £20 a month will be ‘worth less than £15 by 2024’, study finds

Monthly charity donations of £20 started in 2017 will be worth just £14.90 by 2024 due to inflation, according to projections.  New analysis by Pro Bono Economics (PBE) and the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) also estimates that the £5.7 billion of total donations made to charities in the first six months of 2022 will be worth £500 million less by the end of the year, a reduction of 8.5%.  The falling value of donations due to inflation, which is forecast by the Bank of England to peak at 13% later…

Donors maintain pandemic generosity with £1bn given to Charities Aid Foundation in support of charities

More than £1bn has once again been entrusted to Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) from donors, just above the record-setting amount in response to the pandemic the previous year. 15m people donated to animal charities in UK last year

Animal welfare is the UK’s most popular cause for donating to charities, according to research by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF). An estimated 15 million people chose to give money to animal charities last year – more than a quarter of the UK’s population, with an average monthly donation of more than £20. The number of people giving to charity in the UK is falling, with an estimated 1.6m fewer people donating last year. However, donors initially gave more during the pandemic, according to analysis of the last 18 months from the Charities Aid Foundation. More than £958 million has been paid to good causes around the world from the Charities Aid Foundation, as private philanthropists and businesses responded to the Covid-19 pandemic with remarkable generosity.
