BT Group pilot powers up first EV charger repurposed from street cabinet

Etc., the startup and digital incubation arm at BT Group, recently announced that it will power up its first EV charging unit built from a street cabinet traditionally used to store broadband and phone cabling. Uber joins London boroughs in £5 million EV charger boost

Hundreds of new electric-vehicle (EV) chargers are to be installed across north and east London, following a landmark agreement between Uber and three London boroughs.  Over 700 fast EV chargers will be installed on streets in Newham, Brent, and Redbridge, boosting London’s overall charging network by over 7%. The 700 new chargers are the result of a £5 million investment from Uber, working in close collaboration with each borough to determine where chargers should be installed.
