Morrisons has become the first UK supermarket to introduce recycling points for coffee machine pods. The move which is being trialled in 29 stores is in partnership with Podback, the pod recycling service.  In an effort to make coffee pod recycling even easier and convenient, Morrisons is trialling a new drop-off service that allows customers to collect their Podback recycling bags, fill with their used pods, and recycle in a dedicated bin located at the front of the store. Pioneering soft plastic recycling site opens doors in Fife

A pioneering new recycling facility is now open in Fife which will reprocess ‘hard-to-recycle’ soft plastics. It aims to develop a greater plastics recycling infrastructure here in the UK, to keep the material in a ‘closed loop’ and save it from being exported overseas. The site is co-owned by Morrisons and was constructed and will be operated by recycling plant specialists Yes Recycling. Morrisons launches its first fully plastic free Christmas gift wrap range

Morrisons has completely removed plastic packaging from its Christmas gift wrap and accessory ranges – removing over 3.1 tonnes of plastic shrink wrap from its wrapping paper alone. This is in addition to the removal of glitter and plastic from paper wrap, crackers and cards in previous years, which has reduced plastic in its range by over 150 tonnes over the past three years. Morrisons has become the first supermarket to launch its own line of carbon neutral eggs as part of its commitment to be directly supplied by ‘zero emission’ British farms by 2030, five years ahead of the rest of the supermarket industry.
