Aldi Removes Plastic From Its Beer And Cider

Aldi has removed all plastic packaging from its own-label four-pack beers and ciders to further reduce plastic waste. The UK’s fourth-largest supermarket has replaced the plastic shrink wrap and rings with a cardboard alternative. Tesco removes two billion pieces of plastic from its business

Tesco has now removed more than two billion pieces of plastic from its UK business since the launch of its 4Rs – Remove, Reduce, Re-use, Recycle – packaging strategy in 2019. Sainsbury’s goes trayless on whole chickens, saving over 10 million pieces of plastic a year

Sainsbury’s has announced that its by Sainsbury’s whole chicken range is now trayless, after the retailer removed single-use plastic trays from its packaging. Using a minimum of 50% less plastic, the change is estimated to save 140 tonnes of plastic annually. The trayless products are available in all stores across the UK and online, helping to reduce the amount of single-use plastic customers have to dispose of at home.
