The last straw: Waitrose ditches plastic straws in its cafes

UK Supermarket Waitrose will will only offer paper straws in its cafes, building on its pledge to not sell plastic straws from September 2018, The retailer’s commitment to reduce the impact plastic has on the environment will see all its cafes replacing plastic straws with paper versions from the end of April 2018. BBC to ban single-use plastic

The BBC has announced a three-step plan to remove single-use plastic from our operations by 2020. Plastic cups and cutlery will be scrapped by the end of 2018, ending the use of around 2 million plastic cups used by visitors and staff across the BBC’s sites a year. Several BBC sites have already begun to remove plastic cups from kitchens and replace with glasses wherever possible. This will be rolled out to all BBC offices.
