Veganuary: Sales of vegetarian and vegan dishes up again in 2022, says Sodexo

To mark Veganuary 2023, Sodexo has published its food sales data showing a year-on-year increase in the proportion of vegetarian and vegan meals sold across 476 of its UK and Ireland client sites. During 2022 (January to November), 10% of all meals sold were vegetarian or vegan, compared to 8% during the same period in 2021. Five university teams win funding from Sodexo to tackle food insecurity

A Dragon’s Den-style competition involving 85 students from 26 universities throughout the UK was held by the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation in partnership with social enterprise and educational charity Enactus UK. Three of the teams included students from Sodexo client universities; Coventry, Northumbria, and University College London (UCL). For the fourth time, Stop Hunger and Enactus partnered on its 2022 Incubator Competition. Sodexo’s Appetite for Action campaign to tackle food waste in the foodservice industry was named the winner in the Best Waste Project Communication and Stakeholder Engagement category at the 2022 Waste2Zero awards. Sodexo supports Marine Conservation Society through volunteering and £17k donation

Sodexo has partnered with the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) by donating £17k and providing volunteering initiatives to combat climate change and preserve British beaches.  In 2022, almost 70 Sodexo colleagues volunteered, delivering over 250 hours to help the MCS’s Beach Clean initiative. Sodexo’s school meal carbon labelling helps Oasis students make climate conscious meal choices

Sodexo has introduced carbon-labelled school meals at 12 secondary academies in the Oasis Community Learning portfolio following a successful trial earlier this year which saw an uptake in low carbon options such as chickpea curry and white bean chilli.
