Airbus Canada rolls out sustainable aviation fuel, unlocking 100% SAF capacity across all delivery centres worldwide

The first sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) delivery recently took place at the Airbus Canada’s A220 site, enabling the Mirabel teams to use SAF for production, customer acceptance and test flights. This now means that all Airbus commercial aircraft assembly sites around the world are now using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for their internal operations.  During the course of 2025, all Airbus commercial aircraft delivery centers around the world will offer SAF to customers for ferry flights. This year alone, in 2025, over 600,000 litres of SAF with a 30% blend…

Heathrow accelerates Sustainable Aviation Fuel adoption

Heathrow has announced an increase in its pioneering carbon cutting scheme for a fourth year. In 2025, £86m will be available to airlines through the airport’s SAF incentive scheme, targeting 3% of aviation fuel used at Heathrow to be SAF – amounting to 187,000 tonnes. Heathrow continues to lead on SAF use in the UK, with the incentive 1% above the UK mandate. The SAF mandate came into effect 1st January 2025.   SAF, a fuel alternative to traditional fossil-based kerosene, can cut lifecycle carbon emissions by 70% on average by…

Wastefront Announces Strategic Investment From IAG

IAG has invested in Wastefront, a leading tyre-to-fuel company, who plan to turn used tyres into Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The SAF will be made by converting waste tyres into tyre derived oil, which is then refined into road fuels and SAF. The SAF produced is expected to give life cycle carbon emission savings over 80% versus fossil fuels. This deal is another step forward for IAG in its commitment to SAF and enables Wastefront to begin construction on its fully circular tyre-to-fuel facility in the Port of Sunderland. The…

Formula 1 expands Sustainable Aviation Fuel investment through new Qatar Airways programme

Formula 1 has announced it is expanding its investment in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) through a new programme developed with Global Partner Qatar Airways. This builds upon the previously announced investment alongside Global Logistics Partner, DHL and creates a broader framework for Formula 1 teams and the FIA to participate. In total, the combined investment in the two programmes in 2024 will reduce related emissions by more than 8,000 tCO2e (tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent). This is an approximate 19% reduction in related emissions, compared to traditional aviation fuel, for…
