Tesco has announced that it has removed one billion pieces of plastic from its UK business in just one year. Tesco shoppers thanked for donating more than a million meals to help others

Holding the Tesco Food Collections, which ran for three days in large stores, is just one of a number of ways in which Tesco supports the two food charities. The supermarket has provided more than £60m in support to help the charities feed communities during the pandemic. During the initial lockdown Tesco donated £15m of food, split between the two charities. Tesco To Cut Plastic In Fresh Chicken Packaging

Tesco is announcing that from next year it will stop using plastic trays to pack its fresh, whole chickens.  The supermarket will start by removing the tray and film from 16 million of its own brand medium, large and extra-large chickens, and replace it with a single bag. From solar farms to electric delivery fleets: Tesco takes action to hit net zero in UK by 2035

To help bring forward its ambition to become net zero in the UK by 2035, 15 years earlier than planned, Tesco is taking new action to help tackle the two biggest sources of emissions in the UK – electricity production and transport.  Tesco is launching a new partnership with renewable energy investor, Low Carbon, that will see the creation of three new solar farms in the UK. The solar farms in Essex, Anglesey and Oxfordshire will generate up to 130GWh of energy per year, enough to power 44,828 three-bedroom homes, and help Tesco procure more renewable energy with additionality for the grid. The work is part of the retailer’s commitment…
