Vattenfall offshore wind farm will use recyclable wind turbine blades

The Hollandse Kust Zuid offshore wind farm in the Netherlands will use a new type of wind turbine blades that can be recycled. The blades are made with a new type of resin which makes it easier to reclaim the different blade components. Last year, Vattenfall set the target to recycle all wind turbine blades by 2030. Vattenfall has set ambitious targets in how to deal with wind turbine blades at end of life. An immediate commitment to a landfill ban on decommissioned wind turbine blades has been made. Ørsted Commits to Sustainable Recycling of Wind Turbine Blades

On Ørsted’s Capital Markets Day on 2 June, the company announced its new commitment to either reuse, recycle, or recover all of the wind turbine blades in Ørsted’s global portfolio of onshore and offshore wind farms upon decommissioning.
