The government of Brazil and a broad coalition of partners expanded their commitment to conserving the Amazon with the launch of a new initiative — ARPA Comunidades (ARPA Communities). Over 15 years, ARPA Comunidades will benefit more than 130,000 people and reduce deforestation pressure in 60 sustainable-use protected areas spanning 58.6 million acres, an area twice the size of Ohio.
