The Caring Family Foundation launches Food From the Heart campaign to support children living in poverty

The Caring Family Foundation has partnered with FareShare and The Felix Project for their winter campaign ‘Food from the Heart’, with the aim to make a difference to the lives of children in the UK living in poverty.

“The last year has seen the nation turn its attention to the reality of food poverty in the UK, however the situation is still extremely challenging for millions of families. We hope the Food From The Heart campaign can alleviate some of the pressure facing these families over Christmas and throughout next year.”

With Christmas posing a significant challenge to many families across the UK suffering from food poverty and insecurity, the announcement comes as the charity unveils its second phase of activity to help bring meals to 6,000 children every day over the school holidays, with 100,000 meals delivered to children before Christmas. The Caring Family Foundation has also announced the involvement of singer Anne-Marie who will supporting the campaign in 2022.

The ‘Food from the Heart’ campaign pledges to feed children with a food delivery programme that will have a sustainable impact.

The Caring Family Foundation’s ‘Food from the Heart’ campaign will deliver meals across the UK to children most in need of food, found through a nationwide conducted survey by FareShare. Chefs across the hospitality network, have come together to create nutritious meals for children. Last year the Foundation provided 1.14 million meals across the UK to those working on the front line of Covid-19, as well as school children and families affected by the pandemic. In total, a further 1 million meals will be provided over the course of the next year during the challenging school holiday periods.

The Caring Family Foundation was set up by Richard & Patricia Caring to tackle issues close to their heart. The Foundation supports families in need with a focus on vulnerable women and children facing the struggles of food poverty, food insecurity and those under threat of domestic abuse and violence.

Using expertise from the chefs and staff from The Ivy Restaurants and Birley Clubs, the meals have been developed to be nutritionally balanced, so parents know that the food they are feeding their children is balanced and nutritious. The meals come pre-cooked and frozen, ready to be heated so families without access to a full kitchen can still benefit from them.

Patricia Caring said: “The last year has seen the nation turn its attention to the reality of food poverty in the UK, however the situation is still extremely challenging for millions of families. We feel deeply that no parent or child should find themselves in a situation where they struggle to find their next hot meal, especially over Christmas. As parents of young children, and having worked in hospitality for many years, we want to help in a way we know how – by providing nourishing meals for families during the holiday period. We hope the Food From The Heart campaign can alleviate some of the pressure facing these families over Christmas and throughout next year.”
