‘Tis the season of giving. This year, gifting a meal to feed a family in need is right at your fingertips.

On National Philanthropy Day, a day to reflect on how charitable contributions make a meaningful impact on individuals and families in need. Kris Bahner, Senior Vice President, Global Corporate Affairs at Kellogg Company shares how helping to feed a family in need is now easier than ever.

Did you know that one in eight households in the U.S. face hunger? As a mother, the idea of not being able to provide a nutritious meal for my family is unthinkable. The season of giving is upon us, and a single act of kindness, like making a food donation, can mean one more meal on the table and one more belly filled. With a simple action, you can make the holidays just a little more merry for people in your community.

Click, ship and donate the foods that food banks need most
As a company with a heart and soul, we too are passionate about helping to fight hunger and feed people in need. That’s why, in support of our global signature cause program, Breakfasts for Better Days™, we launched our digital food drive on Amazon.com to make it easier than ever for anyone to simply “click, ship and donate” the most-needed foods to food banks across the country. From the page, you can quickly select a Feeding America® food bank and send them any of the following foods people request most, including:

  • Canned proteins (tuna, chicken, beef, turkey)
  • Canned or boxed meals (soups, stews, ravioli, mac & cheese)
  • Canned vegetables & fruit
  • Cereal (hot & cold)
  • Dried beans
  • Peanut butter and nut butters
  • Dry or canned pasta
  • Pasta sauce
  • Rice
  • Shelf stable milk

Since we launched our program on World Food Day, Feeding America food banks have been receiving food donations delivered to their doors almost daily. And with Thanksgiving fast-approaching, food banks that receive your donations can help even more families have a bountiful holiday.

Making an positive impact in communities across the country
We asked Holly Cavinder from the Food Bank of South Central Michigan how the digital food drive is helping feed people in her community. She shared, “The items we are receiving are what our partners need most to distribute to those who are food insecure in our area. This online drive enables us to reach people who may not already know about their local food bank and provides an easy way for the busy consumer to donate, which make this program really effective. We’re excited to partner with Kellogg on this new food drive concept.”

Our company’s purpose is nourishing families so they can flourish and thrive. We know that many of you share our goal of a world with zero hunger. Thank you for joining us by making a donation to your neighbors in need this giving season. Donations will be accepted through Giving Tuesday, November 27.
