Triodos Bank UK has been recognised at the British Bank Awards 2021. The sustainable bank was highly commended in the ‘Best Ethical Financial Provider’ category and named ‘Best Savings Provider’. Triodos was nominated in four categories overall, including ‘Best Current Account Provider’ and ‘Best British Bank’.
Entirely voted for by customers, the awards are given to financial companies that offer the best products, innovation and service. In total, over 90,000 people voted in this year’s awards.
Bevis Watts, chief executive of Triodos Bank UK, said: “We offer a unique element of transparency and the reassurance that our customers’ money is being used as a force for good. For us to win at the British Bank Awards demonstrates that there is a real uplift in demand for sustainable banking.
“As best savings provider, we are proud to be able to offer, alongside our current account, an alternative to the dominant big banks. Sustainability is absolutely at the heart of Triodos Bank and we’re pleased to be recognised for how we’ve integrated these values throughout our products and services for over 25 years.
“This is a real testament to the work that our team have put in over the past year, despite the challenges of the pandemic. Similarly, the support of our customers is vital – they’re our biggest advocates, so having their voices heard in these awards makes it really meaningful recognition. Thank you to everyone that left a review and voted for us.”
Triodos Bank focuses on making money work for positive change and uses customers’ deposits to provide a range of finance and tailored support to progressive companies, social enterprises and charities making an impact, both from an environmental and social perspective. Now in their seventh year, the British Bank Awards are run by Smart Money People, and are widely thought of as the Oscars of the banking world.
Jacqueline Dewey, chief executive of Smart Money People, commented: “Voting was incredibly close, and the competition between the companies was fierce. The British Bank Awards are a real signal to companies about how they are doing in the eyes of those who matter most, their customers. And a big thank you should go to all the customers who took the time to have their say and cast their vote.”
