WaterAid is delighted to announce the appointment of Jennie York as its new Director of Fundraising and Communications.
Jennie has extensive experience of the international development sector, having previously worked at WaterAid for five years when she led the Direct Marketing Team. She left in 2015 to take up the role of Deputy Director of Supporter and Communities at Save the Children UK, progressing to Director. She now rejoins the water and sanitation organisation from Barnardo’s, where she is currently Director of Fundraising.
Jennie is thrilled to be returning to WaterAid later this year, saying:
“After several years away, I am extremely excited to be coming back into the WaterAid family. The organisation and its people have always held a special place in my heart and I am thrilled to be able to bring all I have learned from my time away back with me.
“I have been following the fantastic work and achievements of the Fundraising and Communications department for many years and believe with this strong team we can achieve even more, both nationally and globally. I feel extremely privileged to be able to play a part in what I believe will be a very bright future for WaterAid.”
It is a pivotal time for WaterAid and its mission as it develops a new global strategy to accelerate universal access to water, sanitation and hygiene through its transformative work in collaboration with partners from civil society, governments and the private sector. The Fundraising and Communications department is crucial in increasing engagement in the charity’s work and highlighting how these basic facilities are essential for breaking the cycle of poverty.
