WRAP launches £1.5m Grant Fund to support textiles projects

WRAP is offering a total of £1.5 million in grants to support projects that provide innovative ways for textile waste to be recycled or re-used, keeping it out of landfill or incineration so that it remains a valuable resource. The money is part of Defra’s £18m Resource Action Fund, set up to support key priority policy areas. The grants, of between £20,000 and £170,000, are available to organisations of any size, both commercial and not-for-profit. Media portrayals of later life are overwhelmingly negative, according to a new report by the Centre for Ageing Better, with print media, entertainment and advertising promoting damaging stereotypes of older people.   The print media tends to represent the age shift in the population as a crisis or a societal burden, according to the report, with the ageing population described using metaphors like “grey tsunami”, “demographic cliff” and “demographic timebomb”.
