UK travellers remove 1.75m bottles from the ocean by donating to environmental causes through Currensea  

Charity donations from UK travellers using a money-saving travel card have removed 1.75m plastic bottles from the ocean since 2020. Travellers using the Currensea card, a card that links to existing bank accounts and offers the lowest foreign exchange (FX) fees, can opt to support environmental causes by donating some or all of the savings they make on FX fees when using the card overseas.    Currensea users have also contributed to almost 120,000 trees being planted by donating savings made when using the card.   Working alongside Plastic Bank and Eden…

As New York Climate Week gathers momentum, the UN-convened Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance launches its second-ever Progress Report, showing significant membership growth matched by credible intermediate decarbonisation targets. On the Alliance’s third anniversary, the membership stands at six times what it was during its formation in 2019. Average charity donation of £20 a month will be ‘worth less than £15 by 2024’, study finds

Monthly charity donations of £20 started in 2017 will be worth just £14.90 by 2024 due to inflation, according to projections.  New analysis by Pro Bono Economics (PBE) and the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) also estimates that the £5.7 billion of total donations made to charities in the first six months of 2022 will be worth £500 million less by the end of the year, a reduction of 8.5%.  The falling value of donations due to inflation, which is forecast by the Bank of England to peak at 13% later…
