Nestlé invests £7m in pioneering recycling facility

A breakthrough plastic recycling plant is set to open in Durham with a significant investment from Nestlé UK and Ireland.  Impact Recycling will open the new facility to process hard-to-recycle flexible plastics, typically used in food packaging, into pellets which can be used to make new flexible products such as postbags and refuse bags.  Nestlé has agreed to provide Impact Recycling with a £7 million loan to get its pioneering process off the ground and as well as a grant from Innovate UK, the site is set to be operational…

Sainsbury’s is donating one million fresh meals to support families in need this winter to mark the launch of a new partnership with FareShare, the UK’s biggest charity tackling food waste to support social good. Tetra Pak and Lactogal cut carbon footprint of aseptic cartons for milk by a third, increasing renewable content with a paper-based barrier

Following successful commercial consumer testing in 2022, Tetra Pak and Lactogal have now launched an aseptic beverage carton featuring a paper-based barrier. This is part of a large-scale technology validation, involving around 25 million packages and currently ongoing in Portugal.
