Books-A-Million to Donate over 72,000 Bags of Coffee to U.S. Troops and Veterans

Thousands of U.S. troops serving overseas, veterans and VA hospitals will soon receive a special taste of home thanks to the incredible generosity of Books-A-Million customers during the 12th Coffee for the Troops campaign in partnership with Soldiers’ Angels. The patriotic program, which ran September 30 through October 27, allowed customers to honor brave U.S. soldiers by purchasing a bag of coffee from any Books-A-Million location or online. Customers purchased more than 60,700 bags of freshly ground Joe Muggs Coffee for donations. Books-A-Million also contributed one bag of coffee for every fifth customer-purchased bag, bringing the total number of donations to nearly 73,000. With the help of Soldiers’ Angels, all donated bags of coffee will soon be distributed to U.S. troops overseas and VA hospitals across the country.

“Coffee for the Troops is a special way to give thanks to the brave men and women who fearlessly serve our country every day,” said Amy Palmer, President and CEO of Soldiers’ Angels. “We are incredibly thankful for Books-A-Million and the customers who continue to support our organization. These generous coffee donations offer a true taste of home and express gratitude to service members who have sacrificed so much.”

Since 2012, Books-A-Million has partnered with Soldiers’ Angels to donate more than 645,700 bags of coffee to troops, veterans and VA hospitals. With the help of its customers, the company has exceeded its Coffee for the Troops goals each year, showing the positive impact that comes from strength in numbers.

“Year after year, we are amazed by the ongoing support our customers demonstrate through the Coffee for the Troops campaign,” said Natalie Blankenship, Joe Muggs café buyer. “It is because of their generous donations that Books-A-Million is able to provide the comfort of coffee to soldiers overseas and deliver this simple token of appreciation for their service and sacrifice.”

Customers were also able to leave a personalized message on each donated bag to show their appreciation for the bravery of U.S. soldiers.
