Cancer Research UK’s Commercial Partnerships Team and The Institute of Cancer Research, London, announced a multi-project collaboration and licensing deal with Merck, a leading science and technology company, to discover and develop new anticancer drugs. Starbucks to trial paper cup charge in 25 London stores

Starbucks has announced that it will trial a 5p charge on disposable cups across 25 of its London stores. The trial is set to last months, and its purpose is to assess the effectiveness of a charge on disposable cups. Starbucks were the first to create a reusable cup incentive which was implemented in 1998 at 10p before upping it to 25p in 2008. Looking back on the first year of Scotland’s Social Enterprise Strategy

Scotland’s social enterprise strategy has delivered more than £7 million of investment in its first year. Since the new strategy was launched in December 2016, £1.2 million has gone into free specialist business support, £1.1 million into a national social enterprise incubator and £330,000 to provide social enterprise learning in primary and secondary schools across the country. UK bans microbeads

A ban on the manufacture of products containing microbeads in the UK has come into force – a landmark step in the introduction of one of the world’s toughest bans on these harmful pieces of plastic.
