CIPR Board member elected as UK representative on new Global Alliance Board

CIPR Board member, Laurian Hubbard Chart.PR FCIPR, has been elected as the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management’s (Global Alliance) UK Regional Delegate-at-Large. She takes it over from former CIPR President, Steve Shepperson Smith.

Laurian is Head of Engagement Services at Welsh Parliament and was elected to the Global Alliance’s new Board at their AGM on Friday, 22 May 2026, at the Czernin Palace in Prague, Czech Republic. The new board will officially assume office on 1 July 2026.

The CIPR is a member of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, a confederation of the world’s major PR and communication management associations, academic and educational institutions, and organisations, representing over 360,000 practitioners and academics around the world.

I am honoured to join the Global Alliance Board at a pivotal time for public relations and communication management. Around the world, communicators are grappling with the implications of AI, growing challenges around trust, misinformation and rising expectations of transparency and accountability. These challenges transcend national borders and require a collective response from our profession.

The UK has a proud tradition of championing professional standards in public relations, and I look forward to bringing the CIPR’s commitment to professional standards and ethical practice to discussions with colleagues across the Global Alliance. Together, we can advance ethical practice, strengthen public trust and ensure our profession is equipped to meet both the opportunities and responsibilities of a rapidly changing communications landscape.
