Several Discovery Education corporate and community partnership programs have been recognized for excellence as part of the PRNEWS 2020 Digital PR Awards. The Digital Awards program acknowledges the most innovative digital communicators and campaigns

Jackson Charitable Foundation Cha-Ching Money Smart Kids Contest 
The Cha-Ching Money Smart Kids Pledge Challenge encourages elementary school teachers, families, and community members to show their commitment to financial literacy education. The challenge invites community collaboration through daily online voting for schools to receive a $10,000 prize package amplifying financial education, along with a $1,000 donation to a student-selected charity. 

The annual Challenge builds upon a Jackson Charitable Foundation and Discovery Education educational program, Cha-Ching Money Smart Kids, which provides no-cost resources that grow critical life skills in K-6 students by beginning high-quality financial literacy education in elementary school. Launched in 2017, the engaging and fun financial education program provides millions of students with the knowledge, tools, and practice they need to make informed decisions to reach their goals and dreams. LG Discover Your Happy: International Day of Happiness Day of Learning 
The LG Discover Your Happy program, a collaborative effort between Discovery Education and LG Electronics USA – and extension of LG’s signature cause social impact program initiative, “Experience Happiness”  – provides educators, parents and students the no-cost resources to sustain one’s ability to recognize that life can be good through six foundational social emotional skills: mindfulness, human connection, positive outlook, purpose, generosity and gratitude. 

As part of this initiative, LG Electronics USA and Discovery Education ran a nationwide social media storm during the United Nations International Day of Happiness (#IDOH) on March 20, 2019, sparking a day-long conversation designed to create meaningful dialogue on the importance of happiness and deliver new resources and tips for practicing happiness skills with teachers, students, and families.

Responsibility.org’s Ask, Listen, Learn in Partnership with Discovery Education 
To launch this new partnership and kick off conversations in classrooms nationwide around empowering kids to say “YES” to a healthy lifestyle and “NO” to underage drinking, Ask, Listen, Learn in partnership with Discovery Education hosted a “Digital Discussion on the Science and Impact of Alcohol on Developing Brains, Bodies, and Behavior”. Together they invited educators, families, and students to explore the science behind how alcohol impacts kids’ developing brains to engage in meaningful conversations about this important topic. Conversations took off with students across the nation, with over 29 million social impressions and #BrainBodyBehavior trending on Twitter the day of the event.

The no-cost program resources equip students in grades 4-7 with vital tools and experiences to dive deep into the science, data, and facts that are critical to understanding the effects of alcohol, leading kids to say “YES” to a healthy lifestyle and “NO” to underage drinking! USC Shoah Foundation Teaching with Testimony: “Our Stories are Stronger Than Hate” Virtual Field Trip 
This Virtual Field Trip highlighted real-world stories to help students explore the dynamics of respect, acceptance, and empathy. In the on-demand field trip, students hear from activist and Marjory Stoneman Douglas school shooting survivor Samantha Grady, Holocaust survivor Eva Schloss, as well as students who experience hate in their everyday lives as they share their stories of overcoming adversity and their unique perspectives of healing from trauma in hopes of inspiring others. Both archived and present-day storytelling overlap to create an impactful learning opportunity for students to explore emotions, consider questions, experience a shared humanity, and develop thinking in new and nuanced ways. 

Developed in partnership between USC Shoah Foundation and Discovery Education, Teaching with Testimony is a no-cost educational program that unlocks the powerful instructional potential of testimony. Drawing upon USC Shoah Foundation’s vast library of audiovisual testimony from survivors and witnesses of genocides, Teaching with Testimony empowers students to find their voices and take action for a better future.
