eBay Launches Merchandising Masterclass As Part Of Its Charity Connect Programme

eBay for Charity has announced its adding a new webinar, ‘Merchandising Masterclass: Curating Your Online Shop’, as a bonus feature to its Charity Connect training programme, starting in September. The webinar, hosted by proeBay seller Jade Oliver from Heavenly Homes and Gardens, will reveal her ultimate tips and tricks for curating an on trend shop front online.

The webinar follows a study by Loughborough University researchers Dr Michelle Richey, Dr Jade Brooks and Prof M.N. Ravishankar, which looked into the impact Charity Connect had on participating charities, and it revealed how many charities believe that the stigma around charity shop shopping still exists, framing them as bric-à-brac stores.

Local Aid charity commented, “people expect low prices when they shop at charity outlets , we’re seen as cheap and a place to find a bargain. Devon Air Ambulance added, “I still know people that will not set foot in a charity shop due to believing they’re only filled with second hand clutter.”

The 60-minute webinar will include tips from Jade on how to merchandise online by styling product imagery and curating listings, as well as advice on how to run and design a successful shop on eBay, and create an on-trend online shop front that will  attract customers.

Following its inaugural success in 2020, during the height of the global pandemic, Charity Connect will run for six months from September. It is completely free to join and suitable for charities of all sizes and experience on eBay. Participating charities will receive tailored training through virtual one-to-one and group support sessions, webinars, e-learning materials and dedicated support on customer service and promotional activities.

Applications are currently open and the deadline for charities to sign up has been extended to Thursday 19th of August at 23:59.

For those who are interested in registering for the course, charity retailers can submit an application here and there will be more information on the bespoke webinar from Heavenly Homes and Gardens soon.
