IFC Partners with CRX Markets to Advance Supply Chain Sustainability

To help improve the sustainability of global supply chains, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, has announced a new partnership with CRX Markets, one of Europe’s largest working capital finance platforms.

The partnership will draw on CRX Markets’ robust platform to broaden the reach of IFC’s $1 billion Global Trade Supplier Finance (GTSF) Program, which helps buyers extend affordable short-term working capital to their emerging market supplier networks.

GTSF helps buyers spark positive change in their supply chains by offering financial discounts to suppliers when they meet a client’s sustainability goals, including improvements to environmental and social compliance, workplace equity, and decarbonization.

“Innovative financial solutions are a crucial part of IFC’s work in promoting sustainable economic development,” said Femi Akinrebiyo, IFC’s Global Manager for Manufacturing Investment & Trade Supplier Finance. “Partnering with CRX Markets allows us to enhance our impact by reaching more suppliers, and accelerate the transition to a more equitable, sustainable global economy.”

CRX Markets works with some of Europe’s largest brands, providing working capital finance to the emerging market supplier networks crucial to their operations.

“The integration of IFC into the CRX Markets ecosystem marks a significant milestone for both organizations. This partnership will enhance financing opportunities for a broader range of suppliers, including those from emerging markets, fostering growth and innovation across the supply chain.” said Michael Germann, Chief Commercial Officer and Board Member of CRX Markets. “Together, we will unlock new opportunities for our clients and their suppliers, driving sustainability and inclusivity in global trade. We are proud to collaborate with IFC to deliver innovative solutions that align financial performance with ESG objectives.”

A versatile platform for offering affordable working capital and sustainability-linked discounts, IFC’s GTSF program works with buyers and suppliers in industries that include garment manufacturing, agribusiness, automotives, and electronics.

In 2024, it disbursed over $2.15 billion to over 350 suppliers, with over 60 percent of its disbursements in sustainability-linked facilities.
