Jennifer Garner and Walmart Team Up to Inspire Acts of Kindness

Walmart and top actor Jennifer Garner have got together to inspire acts of kindness and they posted a blog by Janey Whiteside, Chief Customer Officer, Walmart U.S. and Walmart U.S. eCommerce which I have reproduced below:

One by one, acts of kindness make our neighborhoods better and bring us together, making us a stronger community.

Walmart is part of so many neighborhoods across America and around the world — about 11,000 of them. Our customers and associates are already doing so many incredible things each day to make their neighborhoods a better, stronger place. That’s why we’re kicking off a new effort to showcase the passion that customers and associates have for things that make a difference in their neighborhoods: we are making it possible for everyone desiring to do so to share their acts of kindness with us — and the world — using #SparkKindness.

Acts of kindness can be anything — picking up trash in your local park, supporting a local shelter, or even just buying a cup of coffee for a stranger. What we’ve seen among our customers and associates is that kindness is truly contagious: by sharing acts of kindness, others are often inspired to perform their own acts of kindness.

To start things off, we’re working with one of the biggest hearts in Hollywood, Jennifer Garner. Recently, Jennifer and a team of Walmart associates and volunteers got together to revitalize the community space of a Save the Children school in Alpaugh, California, transforming it into to a place to gather and celebrate.

We’re passionate about making a difference in communities. So, in addition to encouraging everyone to use the hashtag, we’re also launching a new challenge with our Walmart associates that will allow us to make an even bigger impact on local neighborhoods.

During the challenge, if Walmart associates decide to post on their social channels about their acts of kindness using the hashtags #SparkKindness and #WalmartAssociateChallenge, Walmart will help spark the kindness even further. Walmart will take a look at the posts and choose 25 of them; the associates who made those posts will get the opportunity to work with the Walmart.org team to recommend a Walmart grant to a charity.

While only associates can participate in the challenge, everyone can join us and so many others in spreading and sharing kindness. This is only the beginning, and we are so excited to work with Jennifer to create the change we want to see in the world.
