PRCA relaunch LGBTQ+ Group with Katie Traxton at helm

The Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) has appointed WeAreFearless Marketing and PR Director, Katie Traxton CMPRCA, as Chairman of the newly relaunched PRCA LGBTQ+ Group.

The PRCA LGBTQ+ Group has relaunched with the mission statement to campaign for teams, work, and an industry that are all inclusive, further embracing the PRCA’s duty to represent everyone as equal as we promote excellence, progress, and open communication in PR and communications.

Having spent most of her career in the international motorsport industry, Katie’s experience includes working for then FIA World Rally Championship global promoter and commercial rights holder, North One Television, and the international automobile federation, the FIA. Client-side she held roles at BMW MINI, Volkswagen and BP Castrol where she was an active member of their global Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

She is a Board Director of the European Sponsorship Association, WACL future leader, and passionate believer in the power of integrated marketing that puts audience and shareability at the heart of the strategy behind any campaign.

Katie Traxton CMPRCA, Marketing and PR Director, WeAreFearless, said: “It’s an honour to have been appointed Chair of the PRCA’s LGBTQ+ Group. With our new mission statement, we want to empower diverse thinking to inspire open and inclusive dialogue in organisations and the industry. We work in public relations so if we can’t relate to every member of the public, then we can’t do brilliant work that will truly resonate with the people we want to talk to.”

Francis Ingham MPRCA, Director General, PRCA, said: “The recent PRCA Census showed the number of professionals identifying as LGBTQ+ is gradually increasing, making this Group’s relaunch both timely and necessary. Our Groups continue to represent individuals from all walks of life working in the PR and communications industry, and with Katie at the helm of our LGBTQ+ Group, I’m sure it will proceed to do great things.”

The first LGBTQ+ Group event will be held at WeAreFearless on 26th June from 18.30-20.30. Email Isobel Arrowsmith to reserve your place today.
