Social Impact Directory for comms professionals launched

A directory of 16 social enterprises and charities has been created to help communicators improve the social impact of their supply chains.

The directory, created by the Public Relations and Communications Association’s PR Council, enables agencies and in-house teams to appoint suppliers who deliver a positive social impact.

Suppliers on the directory include social enterprises providing animation, catering, campaign support, merchandise creation, photography and research.

Social enterprises are businesses that trade in goods and services, but give back to their communities.

All organisations on the directory contribute towards at least one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Eleven of the suppliers have a board made up of a majority of ethnically diverse, disabled, LGBTQ+ or women members.

Simon Francis, previous chair of the PRCA Council and Founder Member of Campaign Collective, said:

“Increasingly agencies, clients and in-house teams are looking at their supply chains to ensure they help deliver a positive social impact. The easiest way to do this is to appoint social enterprises and charities to deliver goods and services.

“We hope the new PRCA Social Impact Directory will help all communicators take the next step in improving the positive impact of their work.”

Francis Ingham MPRCA, Director General of the PRCA, added:

“Now, more than ever, organisations must prove their value beyond the balance sheet. The PR Council’s social directory gives organisations an easy way to ensure every touchpoint across their supply chains are aligned on making a positive social impact.”

Jo Emmerson from Speakers Collective commented:

“The Speakers Collective are thrilled and proud to be included in the first PRCA social impact directory.

“There has never been a more important time for individuals and organisations to come together to challenge stigma and have important – and at times difficult – conversations about big social issues.

“Our members bring a deep, personal commitment to their work, often drawing on their own lived experience, to help facilitate change that can benefit society. Working with the PRCA provides us with a fantastic opportunity to maximise the impact of our work.”
