#StateOfPR launches with refreshed approach for 10th year

The Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) has launched its 10th annual State of the Profession survey to investigate the issues, trends and challenges facing public relations.

This year’s survey is shorter and includes a range of new questions, including practitioner views of networking, and a more detailed focus on social mobility. This follows last year’s data which revealed more than a quarter (28%) of the public relations workforce are privately educated – four times the national average.

Now in its 10th year, State of the Profession gathers industry-leading data on issues including salaries, strenghts and diversity. This year will see the focus of the survey shift primarily onto the practitioner, with the announcement of a second survey – State of the Industry – looking at industry trends launching later in 2020.

State of the Profession has always provided, and will continue to provide, the most valuable insight into the industry. Being in its 10th year gives us the opportunity to deliver something new and I’m pleased and excited to share this refreshed survey.

New themes and new questions breathes new life into the survey and having a second survey to look forward to next year will offer a far greater understanding of how the profession operates and the challenges we face. This understanding can only happen with your support and I urge everyone working in public relations – CIPR member or not – to take part and help us tell your story.
