Taylor Bennett Foundation launches new programme in Scotland

A charity set up to tackle the lack of ethnic diversity in the communications industry is to launch its first graduate training programme in Scotland. The Taylor Bennett Foundation (TBF), which works with PR agencies and in-house communications teams to provide intensive training for black and minority ethnic (BAME) graduates, will launch its first programme outside London in early June, providing training for four graduates over five weeks.  Lead sponsors of the programme are Standard Life Aberdeen and strategic communications consultancy Charlotte Street Partners. Public relations professionals from across the UK gathered at St Bride’s Church in Fleet Street, London today for a special service to mark the 70th anniversary of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR). CIPR Welcomes Commitment to Tackle ‘Fake News’

The establishment of a National Security Communications Unit to tackle the threat of “fake news” spread by hostile state actors is a welcome step by Government, says the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. However, the roots and causes of ‘fake news’ are complex and the new unit must protect free speech as well as defend our democracy. CIPR Condemns Celebrities Faking Popularity

Following reports last weekend in the US media and in The Times, the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) condemned the dishonest and deliberately misleading practice of buying social media support. According to the reports celebrities including Paul Hollywood, Baroness Lane-Fox and James Cracknell have purchased ‘followers’ in order to boost their social media presence and fake their perceived popularity.
