For the first time, door-to-door fundraising generated more complaints than any other method both made directly to the Fundraising Regulator and to a sample of charities, data from the Fundraising Regulator published recently revealed. The new data was published in the Fundraising Regulator’s latest Annual Complaints Report, covering the period from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023. Fundraising Regulator launches market inquiry into the use of subcontractors by fundraising agencies
The Fundraising Regulator has announced the launch of a market inquiry looking into issues relating to the use of subcontractors in fundraising by charities. The inquiry will seek to better understand how door-to-door and on-street fundraising sub-contracts are arranged and monitored in the sector. This marks the first time that the regulator has launched a market inquiry, which looks at issues that are related to compliance with the Code of Fundraising Practice and cut across the sector. The Fundraising Regulator has recently published its latest annual report and accounts for the 2021/22 financial year. This comes following research showing that awareness of the regulator has more than doubled since 2019, rising from less than one in ten, to one in five members of the general public.
