Fundraising Regulator’s Annual Report reveals highest levy payment rate to date as regulator supports fundraisers to navigate COVID-19

The Fundraising Regulator has published its latest annual report and accounts, which reveals a 98% payment rate of the voluntary Fundraising Levy over the past year – the highest rate to date – as charities continue to commit to voluntary regulation.  During the reporting period, which covers 1 September 2020 to 31 August 2021, 1,974 eligible fundraising organisations contributed a total of £2.17 million to the levy, which funds the UK’s model of voluntary fundraising regulation. Public urged to donate safely this Christmas as it’s revealed £1.6m was lost to online charity fraud over the past year

The Fundraising Regulator, the Charity Commission for England and Wales, National Trading Standards and Action Fraud are joining forces to call on the public to give safely when donating online. Data from Action Fraud reveals that £1.6m of the public’s money was lost to online charity fraud over the past year. The fraud captured by this data includes asks for donations for non-existent charities and the fraudulent collection of funds from genuine charities. Fundraising Regulator’s Annual Complaints Report finds complaints about online fundraising increased by 252% during the pandemic

Online fundraising was the most complained about method of fundraising during the height of the pandemic, according to the Fundraising Regulator’s latest Annual Complaints Report. Fundraising Regulator publishes fourth Annual Complaints Report

The Fundraising Regulator has published its fourth Annual Complaints Report, which analyses complaints we have received over the past year, alongside complaints reported by some of the UK’s largest charities.  Complaints to the Fundraising Regulator from members of the public have increased marginally by 13% compared to last year. In total, we received 836 complaints, compared to 737 in 2018/19.
