EPSRC takes action to address gender bias

Responses to a community survey will help to shape actions to address the under-representation of women in engineering and the physical sciences. The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) will explore how to deliver a number of actions, including different modes of application and unconscious bias observers in funding panels. New Research by iStock Finds that Two out of every Three Women Continue to Face Gender Bias

Ahead of International Women’s Day, iStock, a leading ecommerce platform providing premium visual content to SMBs, SMEs, creatives and students everywhere, has released research revealing that two out of every three women in the UK (62%) are still experiencing bias, with the top reason being due to their body shape and size (24%).   The findings are reported within research for iStock’s creative insights platform Visual GPS, and indicates British women are experiencing bias due to being too heavy (61%), too curvy (23%), too skinny (13%), and too shapeless (6%).    Although…
