People in India are sharing fake news stories with nationalistic messages for ‘nation building’ purposes, with consolidation of national identity taking precedence over the need to fact-check a story, new BBC research has found. The government of Kenya has pledged support for ongoing efforts to transform the Public Relations Society of Kenya into a professional institute as the society unveils five-year Strategic Plan. The transformation, from a Society to an institute will see PRSK pursuing a charter grounded in legislative instruments to further enhance the delivery of professional Public Relations services in Kenya. Leonardo DiCaprio backs university mangrove project

Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio is supporting the expansion of an award-winning Edinburgh Napier University conservation project in Kenya. The university initiative was included in a round of grants from the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation which were announced by the film star at a conference at Yale University.  Mikoko Pamoja – ‘Mangroves Together’ in Swahili – involves Edinburgh-based scientists working with local villagers and researchers to protect threatened mangrove forests and fund community development.
