Environmental organisation City to Sea has today sent a joint open letter to WRAP which is co-signed by 6 other NGO’s including Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth to express their collective “disappoint” and “concern” regarding Coca-Cola’s recent ‘Round in Circles’ advertising campaign which attempts to redefine the word single-use. Londoners reduce food they throw away by 9% with the help of pioneering food project
TRiFOCAL, the project encouraging sustainable food behaviours in London, has announced its results as the three-year initiative comes to an end. The project helped citizens in six London boroughs reduce the amount of good food thrown away by 9% between spring 2017 and spring 2019. Delivered by WRAP, the London Waste and Recycling Board (LWARB), and Groundwork London, TRiFOCAL addressed three message areas relating to food: healthy and sustainable eating, food waste recycling, and food waste prevention. FareShare has seen the amount of frozen food it redistributes to frontline charities grow by 60% in just one year thanks to a new project funded through WRAP’s Food Waste Reduction Fund and a grant from Islamic Relief. FareShare is the UK’s largest food distribution charity.
