World’s first commercial Seaweed Farm within a wind farm

This autumn, the world’s first commercial seaweed farm will open within the Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ) wind farm, located approximately 18 kilometers off the coast between The Hague and Zandvoort in the North Sea. North Sea Farm 1, initiated by North Sea Farmers with funding from Amazon’s Right Now Climate Fund, is a floating farm situated among wind turbines where seaweed cultivation can be tested and improved. Tripling Renewables by 2030 Requires a Minimum of 16.4% Annual Growth Rate

The Renewable Energy Statistics 2024 released by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) shows that despite renewables becoming the fastest growing source of power, the world risks missing the tripling renewables target pledged at COP28. To stay the course, the world will now have to grow renewables capacity at a minimum 16.4% rate annually through 2030. Morrisons becomes first supermarket to partner with The Institute For Agriculture and Horticulture
