CIPR writes to standards committee with concerns over proposals that reduce transparency

The Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) has written to the Committee on Standards with concerns regarding proposals to remove the individual names of parliamentary staff on the Register of Interests of Members’ Staff.  The committee’s ‘Register of Interests of Members’ Staff: transitional provisions’ publication proposes that the move would provide greater protection for MPs staff although identified that the proposals “reduces transparency and accountability”. PRCA On the Record Campaign Calls for Thorough Lobbying Reform

The Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) has renewed its call for urgent reform of the UK’s lobbying transparency framework through its On the Record campaign. The PRCA is asking the UK Government to extend regulation so that all lobbying is properly governed, documented and publicly reported, as the current system only captures a small proportion. The campaign promotes best practice and full transparency across the profession.
