CIPR launches ‘Career Starter’ – free mentor scheme for student members

The Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) has launched a new, free member mentoring scheme – Career Starter – exclusively for its student members.

Launching with 63 mentors, Career Starter is a self-starter scheme providing students with a safe sounding board to support them to reach the next milestone in their public relations career through discussing challenges, exploring opportunities and planning for future career actions.

Students can search and select their mentor, all of whom are CIPR Chartered PR Practitioners with a wealth of experience working in-house, agency side and independently across diverse business sectors.

I am so pleased we are able to launch the Career Starter mentoring scheme to give students – those actively seeking to become the future of our profession – practical support and a helping hand as they embark on their journey to becoming skilled, purpose-driven and ethical practitioners.

Those working towards a career in PR are faced by uncertainty created by the pandemic which is why the timing of this initiative is so important. Our chartered mentors are perfectly positioned to provide reassurance and guidance and to champion our role – our work is important, valuable and needed, and the CIPR is committed to supporting you at every stage.
