Latest CIPR Engage Podcast out now; Reflections on tech, diversity and entering the profession

“We need to be brought in right from the start. It’s to do with having a seat at the boardroom table to some extent, but it’s actually just to be treated with seriousness and as a real management necessity. It’s not just a benefit, it’s a necessity. We have to be there from the beginning and be able to help shape the company’s future, if you like.”
Eva Maclaine, Founder at Maclaine Communications

The new episode of the Engage podcast from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) is out now. Episode 11 – in celebration of the Institute’s 75th anniversary – explores the evolution of the PR and communications industry and the challenges practitioners and teams face today. The new episode is released as Engage celebrates over 10,000 episode downloads.

Hosted by Calhan Behrendt, Outstanding Young Communicator at the 2022 Cymru Wales PRide Awards and Account Manager at OutWrite, this episode delves into the themes of social inclusion and diversity and the impact of technology on their outcomes. Panelists discuss the necessary skills needed to work in the sector, reflect on their own experiences, and highlight the bold strides that have been made by the PR profession.

Joining host Calhan Behrendt is;

  • Tony Bradley, CEO at publicrelationsconsultancy.com
  • Maria Chanmugam, Director at Clevercoms
  • Eva Maclaine, Founder at Maclaine Communications

It has been a real privilege chairing the podcast editorial board and launching the Engage series. Thank you to everyone on the Board and those working at the CIPR who have made every episode possible.

We’ve had some phenomenal guests feature on the series to date and as my final episode as chair, I wanted to ensure we could pay tribute to the strides the profession has made, while also reflecting on some of the ongoing challenges. In conjunction with the CIPR’s 75th anniversary, the discussion explores the importance of diverse thinking and how our role as practitioners continues to evolve.

I would like to say a huge thank you to Cal, Eva, Tony and Maria for giving us their time and for sharing their experiences.

Sara-Anne Mills-Bricknell, Chair CIPR Podcast Editorial Board
