Mediaplanet and Dr. Travis Stork Aim to Inspire Students Into Pursuing a Career in Health Care

Mediaplanet and Dr. Travis Stork, of CBS’s daytime talk show “The Doctors,” are teaming up to combat the upcoming shortage of medical professionals in the U.S. in this year’s edition of “Careers in Health Care.”. It is hoped this campaign will inspire students to pursue one of the many avenues within the healthcare industry.

The U.S. will face an estimated shortage of 90,000 professionals by 2020 due to the number of aging Americans along with the potential reforms to the insurance system. To counteract the shortage, medical program enrollment will need to increase more rapidly than the 30-percent increase experienced between 2002 and 2017.

This year’s edition of “Careers in Health Care” was distributed digitally on Mediaplanet’s education and career news content hub. To explore the campaign, click here. The digital component is distributed nationally, through a vast social media strategy and across a network of top news sites and partner outlets.

In an exclusive interview, Dr. Travis Stork opens up about his unconventional path to becoming a world-renowned physician. Stork also gives his advice to aspiring health care students: “Be excited about learning, be excited about education, because that truly is the building block of succeeding in medicine whatever specific discipline you choose.” Through his years of experience and unique career path, Stork gives his insight into the changing field of health care.

This campaign was made possible with the support of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, The Society for Simulation in Healthcare, Alliance of Nurses for a Healthy Environment, American Ambulance Association, National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians, Seton Hall University’s College of Nursing and St. Peter’s School of Nursing.
