Ethical Hydration brand One Water is set to have a bumper year as customers seek out purpose-led brands in their weekly shop.
One Water estimates that they’ll be able to fund the provision of clean, safe water to around 6,500 people in sub-Saharan Africa due to new listings with Sainsbury’s in June and Ocado going live this month. Transforming the lives of around 25 communities, a donation from each sale will go to The One Foundation, to fund clean water projects where it’s needed most – ranging from hand-pump programmes in rural areas of Malawi to large scale piped water systems serving whole communities.
One Water will be listed in the Sainsbury’s Meal Deal across 789 Local stores and listed with Ocado in larger case formats for home use and out and about aimed at festival go-ers, campers, and for the school holiday season.
In 2024 One Water announced that, together with The One Foundation, it had hit the milestone of £30 million raised since 2004, helping 5 million people gain access to safe, clean water. Sainsbury’s and Ocado join a roster of current retail partners such as Co-Op, Holland & Barrett, Starbucks and World Duty Free, . One Water was a founding UK B Corp, is carbon neutral and all bottles are made from 100% recycled plastic.
One Water Founder Duncan Goose says,
“Having set out to change just one life, to have changed 5 million is an incredible milestone and one that would not have been possible had it not been for all of our incredible partners. We’re delighted that Sainsbury’s and Ocado have joined us on our mission. We’re having more and more conversations with the bigger retailers now who are recognising that consumers want to shop brands with purpose. There are 703 million people globally who lack access to safe, clean drinking water, including a shocking 115 million who still collect untreated surface water from lakes, ponds, rivers, and streams. Partnerships such as this are life-changing for communities around the world. Thank you Ocado and Sainsbury’s for choosing One and for those shoppers that want to do good when they shop.”
Duncan Goose is currently touring World Duty Free sites across the UK to promote a sales incentive for all staff. The top-sellers will earn a place on a trip to Malawi at the end of the year to see first-hand the impact of donations made through One Water sales.
