This year, Asda has launched its first sustainable Christmas range, which will save a huge 66 tonnes of plastic this year – the equivalent of nearly 3,000 real Christmas trees.   Continuing its commitments to helping customers to reduce, re-use and recycle more, the range features glitter-free cards, wrap and gift-bags, which would in previous years have contained small particles of plastic.   This year, customers will be able to purchase a pack of 12 festive crackers which are made from 100% recyclable content, including the gift inside. Asda is the first supermarket to trial Electric Assisted Vehicle

Asda has become the first supermarket to trial a new form of electric assisted cargo bike, allowing customers to receive their weekly food shop with zero carbon emissions. The first-of-its-kind Electric Assisted Vehicle was used by the retailer as part of a two week trial to make deliveries from its Cambridge store, as it looks at potential solutions to reach customers who live in proposed pedestrianised areas and zero emission zones where future access for traditional delivery vehicles could be limited. From the 21st September Asda has become the first UK supermarket to launch a vegan destination in store with two bays entirely dedicated to plant-based products. Asda removes plastic fruit and veg bags from stores

Asda has announced it will be removing plastic fruit and veg bags from its stores, in a trial that aims to help the supermarket retailer continue its fight against plastic pollution. In a 9-store trial, the move could save around 141 tonnes of plastic a year, which equates to over 3.5 million bags.
