The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) is opening new cafés at four of its nature reserves, as part of its efforts to drive community engagement and connections to nature across the UK. A £2.8m loan from Triodos Bank UK will support the creation of new cafés at The Lodge in Bedfordshire, Dee Estuary in Cheshire, Frampton Marsh in Lincolnshire and Conwy, North Wales. The UK will become the first nation to produce a complete map of its blue carbon stores, thanks to a new, pioneering project. The Blue Carbon Mapping project – led by the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS) and funded by WWF-UK in collaboration with The Wildlife Trusts and RSPB – builds on the blue carbon mapping that began in Scotland.
