WRAP launches new data stories platform which explores household food waste research in an innovative way

WRAP is excited to unveil their new data stories platform – a whole new way of bringing their food waste research to life.

This is the first time that it will be possible for existing household food waste statistics (from 2021/2022) to be investigated in a visual way, with interactive charts and graphs.  

Data stories will provide an alternative new way for WRAP’s research to be presented and shared. initially the tool presents household food waste research.

In the UK, WRAP estimates total food waste in 2021 at 10.7 million tonnes, with 6.4 million tonnes coming from household.

With household food waste costing £1000 for the average family of four every year, WRAP’s new tool will highlight the huge impact of food waste in the home, providing a valuable resource for everyone in the food and drink industry.

Users will be able explore the story behind household food waste, which costs UK homes collectively a staggering £17 billion a year, with interactive graphs and charts.
