2.5 million under 25s struggling to afford food – Co-op and Barnardo’s call for action

Household food waste levels threaten UK’s carbon reduction ambitions

Latest data from global environmental action NGO, WRAP shows that household food waste decreased by 9% between 2021 to 2022. OSCR launches charity trustee information requirements to strengthen transparency in the sector

From today, 30 June 2025, charities can now submit their charity trustee information through OSCR Online. This data will support OSCR’s regulatory work, and from early 2026, the names of charity trustees will be published on the Scottish Charity Register to promote transparency and strengthen public trust in the sector. Charities can only submit trustee details on OSCR Online through one of their designated OSCR Online charity users. Market reform would save £27bn and avoid nearly 3,000km of new pylons

New analysis from FTI Consulting, commissioned by Octopus Energy, shows that reforming the market by adopting zonal pricing could prevent the construction of nearly 3,000km of unnecessary pylons – almost three times the length of the UK – and deliver up to £27 billion in savings for bill payers*.
