GB set to miss 2030 Clean Power target

By 2030 only 83% of GB electricity generation will be produced by clean power as defined under CP2030, with the 95% Clean Power target unlikely to be achieved until 2035. While generation from clean power sources has risen steadily in recent years, increasing from 68% in 2020 to 74% by the end of 2025, deployment of key technologies remains short of what is needed to meet the target.  In July 2026, prolonged hot and dry conditions in western Europe led to the spread and intensification of extreme wildfires. The month also saw the highest sea surface temperature (SST) ever recorded for July across the extra-polar oceans, partly fuelled by developing El Niño conditions in the equatorial Pacific, as reported by Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S), implemented by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). Westbrook Racing by Visit Angola, in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA) and EOMAP, has released the latest findings from its environmental monitoring programme conducted around the UIM E1 World Championship event in Monaco. The report represents the third deployment of the Team’s satellite-based environmental monitoring initiative following assessments at Lake Como and Dubrovnik.
